Introduction
Travancore Heritage Resort lies on 8 acres of verdant greenery
over a cliff on the side of the Arabian Sea at Chowara. The structure
of the resort comprises of traditional timber houses and Nalukettus
with tiled roofs, which are almost 60 to 100 years old. They were
dismantled and brought from various places in Travancore and again
re-built at the site of the resort with great care.
Accommodation
Travancore Heritage Resort Thiruvananthapuram presents well-appointed
rooms classified as Pool Mansions, Heritage Villas and Beach Grove.
Heritage Villas has 43 rooms with sit-outs. The facilities within
the rooms include sleek furniture, attractive lights, color television
with cable connection, international direct dial telephone facility,
mini bar/fridge and tea/coffee maker. Some of the rooms have garden
baths while some have closed baths. There are two Pool Mansion Suites
comprising of bedroom, drawing room, sit-out or porch adorned with
antique furniture. The facilities within the room include air-conditioning,
attached bathroom, latest amenities and private dip pool. The Beach
Grove block is on the beach and has 20 sea-facing rooms at the foot
of 20 ft high cliff.
Dining
Travancore Heritage Resort Thiruvananthapuram features two restaurants
with specialty cuisine. The Open House Restaurant is open from the
front with arches and presents a pleasant view of the sea. The wooden
roof of the main hall with splendid decoration is almost a century
old and was procured from the marriage hall of a feudal chief in
Tamil Nadu. It is a multi-cuisine restaurant with seafood and local
recipes as the specialty. The Ocean Grill is the beach side restaurant
with Beach grove on one side and the sea on the other. The delicacy
here is the seafood.
Recreation
Travancore Heritage Resort Thiruvananthapuram offers lots of facilities
for fun and leisure. Enjoy a lap or two at the 228 sq m pool with
a kid's pool and a Jacuzzi. Undergo a series of Ayurvedic therapies
and treatments for rejuvenation and revitalization. The beach activities
include beach chairs, swimming, shower and changing rooms, beach
volleyballs and barbecue. The resort has a small shop selling beachwear,
cosmetics, hats and curios. The resort also arranges for the cultural
programs by professional artists and sightseeing tours.
